As we prepare scholars for life after high school, we know that technology will play an important role in college and careers, and specifically in STEM careers. A rapidly emerging technology is Generative Pretrained Transformer (GPT) technologies such as ChatGPT from OpenAi, or Microsoft's Bing Copilot which uses ChatGPT 4 and Dall-E image generation technology. Another teacher tool available to FWPS staff is Colleague AI. "Colleague integrates cutting-edge AI technology with knowledge in effective teaching to curate Open Education Resources. Human domain experts, assisted by our domain-specific algorithms, review lesson materials to ensure rigor, engagingness, and inclusivity." (Colleague AI, August 2024)

In this course, you will build your understanding of responsible use of Artificial Intelligence in FWPS, with the purpose of guiding our use of Artificial Intelligence to support teaching and learning.

Outcomes

I can locate and use the "Human Centered AI Guidance for K-12 Public Schools" and "FWPS Guidelines for Responsible AI Use" for guidance on human centered AI use.
I can locate and use resources to support scholars with responsible use of AI.
I can identify 3 specific tasks where Colleague AI can reduce my workload and improve my work efficiency.
I can develop prompts that effectively leverage Colleague AI’s abilities to assist with these three tasks.
I can identify 2 common problems with AI-generated responses and develop strategies for fixing issues with AI-generated responses.
I can locate additional Clock Hour training (STEM and Equity hours), self-paced guides and videos, and teaching resources to support me with responsible use of AI tools.
